Beta Form
I have made a ton of progress with my beta form and have been extremally proud of it. But when I look around the room at people who have been doing this for many years saying, "we are running out of time" or, "we have a lot more work to do on the beta form." Personally I felt good with where I am now, what is making me stressed is the people around me that have been doing this for a long time getting worried.
What if it needs to be longer? What if it doesn't look good? Maybe I'm not as prepared as I thought I was?
My questions for you are:
- How long should the form be?
- How did you feel the first time you made a form?
- Do you have any suggestions for me approaching my beta form?
There’s no real time limit. Like Sifu Brinker would say, “Not too long, not too short”. Basically as long as it’s exciting and engaging, any amount of time is good.
ReplyDeletePersonally when I create a form, I usually have my “wow” piece that I build the form around, and then try to create a sequence of moves that make sense and flow together to reach that. I like imagining different opponents in different directions.
End of the day though, it’s your form, so do what speaks to you and worry less about what others are doing, even if they’ve done this longer.
I definitely felt like I had no idea what I was doing when I made my first weapons form last year so I totally understand your concern, but it sounds like you’re proud of what you’ve made so I would say don’t worry too much about where other people are with their forms
ReplyDeleteI love that you recognize the progress that you have made and feel proud of what you have accomplished. We all have our own worries and stress when it comes to the beta deadline so just enjoy where you are at and have fun with it.
ReplyDeleteWhen Abraham Lincoln was asked how long a man's legs should be, he replied: "Long enough to reach the ground." Perfect response that applies to your beta form.
ReplyDeleteStop comparing yourself to others. Look what it has done. It has taken a warm fuzzy feeling that you had for your form and distorted it into something that is not real. Your journey is unique so there is nothing you should be comparing it to. There are similarities to all of our journeys but at the end, they are all completely and 100% unique.
Stop applying other people's worries to yourself. Get your warm, fuzzy feeling back and continue to proceed boldly.
